WEG has announced a $77 million investment in its Specialty Transformer manufacturing facility in Washington, Missouri. The project aims to expand production capacity, automate processes, and enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
These investments specifically target the production of transformers with power ratings from 1 to 10 MVA and voltage up to 46.5 kV, which play a critical role in supporting U. S. expansion of industrial manufacturing, data centers, and grid stability across the United States. This capacity expansion aims to increase vertical integration, implementing automated and robotic processes, as well as a 50% increase in production capacity. This modernization strengthens WEG’s position in strategic segments critical to the expansion of the U.S. electrical infrastructure.
“This investment reinforces our commitment to the United States market and our ongoing pursuit of operational excellence. By expanding capacity and automating processes, we will be able to respond more quickly and with greater quality to evolving demands of key sectors, such data centers, grid stability, and energy storage,” says Carlos Diether Prinz, Transmission and Distribution Managing Director at WEG.
For Phillip James, Vice President of Transmission and Distribution at WEG in the United States, the project represents more than a technological advancement, it highlights WEG’s commitment to the Washington, Missouri, community. “We are investing in infrastructure, innovation, and above all, in people.
