WEG announces an investment plan of approximately BRL 1.1 billion, to be executed by 2028, focused on expanding its product portfolio and increasing WEG Energia’s production capacity, including the construction of a new manufacturing site, budgeted at BRL 900 million, and the expansion of existing operations in Jaraguá do Sul in the amount of BRL 160 million.

The new manufacturing site, will be dedicated to the production of large-scale equipment in Brazil, such as synchronous condensers of up to 330 MVAr, turbogenerators up to 200 MVA, and high-speed induction motors, which will allow to increase the scope of services for motors, generators, and hydraulic turbines up to 300 MVA.

The location of the new manufacturing site will take into account strategic factors such as proximity to the technical staff in Jaraguá do Sul, availability of qualified labor in the region, and logistical infrastructure, with access to BR-101 and BR-280 highways, and the main ports of Santa Catarina state. The project is also expected to generate approximately 1,000 new direct jobs, contributing to the region’s economic development.

According to João Paulo Gualberto da Silva, Managing Director of WEG’s Energy Unit, this project is aligned with the company’s strategic planning and reinforces its commitment to innovation and global competitiveness. “The construction of the new manufacturing site will allow us to address identified opportunities in the large machines market, advancing the production of equipment with higher power ratings than those currently produced, as well as optimizing processes and reducing operating costs,” said the executive.

In the Jaraguá do Sul expansion, WEG will invest around BRL 160 million to enlarge the WEG Energy factory, adding 11,250 m² to its production area. The expansion aims to meet the organic growth in demand for products already manufactured at the unit, ensuring greater operational efficiency and supporting the company’s growth.

The announcement of this investment was made at WEG’s headquarters in Jaraguá do Sul, during a ceremony attended by the Governor of Santa Catarina, Jorginho Melo, as well as state authorities and company employees.
